Almost all my appliances and fixtures purchased

After a lot of musing about which of this or that I am going to put in my kitchen, I've finally committed. We are finalizing the cabinetry and have to be firm on what goes where.
  • Gaggenau 27" double oven in stainless steel;
  • Gaggenau 27" warming drawer (under ovens);
  • Gaggenau 24" warming drawer for my coffee cups and smaller items;
  • Bosch Integra refrigerator (x2) with freezer drawer and wood panels;
  • BlueStar 36" gas range, 6 burners & gas oven;
  • Dacor hood liner, 42" finished size with custom metal work;
  • Kohler Karbon wall-mount faucet for over the clean-up sink, deck-mounted for the prep-sink. Thinking I might actually do 2 wall-mounted faucets over the large clean-up sink. A bit indulgent, but it may work out;
  • Kohler Stages sinks, 33" prep sink (21" sink, 12" drainboard), 45" clean-up sink (33" sink, 12" drainboard);
  • Siemens dishwasher (x2) - basically a Bosch, with custom panels.
You may notice I gave up on the Asko dishwasher. Bosch has a great new fancy-pants dishwasher that is about $1600 discounted, has the 3rd rack like Miele and is super quiet (40 db when running) and is super energy efficient. But I found the Siemens dishwashers on sale at $799 each and they are 48 db. With 3 kids around, I don't think I'll notice the difference in sound.

Just about every single appliance I purchased has been recently discontinued so I bought them all heavily discounted. I think I got each and every appliance either online or from eBay. So I went nuts with all these appliances in large part because I got them all so cheap. I have 2 dishwashers, 3 ovens (2 electric, one gas), 2 warming drawers and 2 refrigerators. It's going to be a party kitchen. Meanwhile, my mom's garage looks like an appliance warehouse.

Asko dishwasher lust

I think I must be stupid because Consumer Reports rates Asko as pretty much crap, but I *love* the configuration possibilities of this dishwasher.

Looking back onto the yard

DSC_0025, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

This is the direct easterly view from on top of the family room. The dining room and casual eating areas are to the left. The poolhouse is on the right and within view.

Still on top of the garage

DSC_0035, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

Angling back a bit from the last photo, the foyer comes into view.

On top of the garage

DSC_0036, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

This view looks south. You can see the construction fence and the bedroom wing south of the foyer.

Looking at the courtyard

DSC_0028, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

The hallway will have windows (currently openings) and the small window is in the master bedroom. This view is from on top of the family room.

View of the family room

You can clearly see the back of the fireplace and the two sets of french doors that access the family room from this view.

The pool house from above

This is a view of the pool house. You can see the backyard behind it.

Alex is king of the roof!

Alex is on top of the roof just north of the foyer. The view is westerly.

Day 116: Foyer and mudroom

CIMG3978, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

On the far-side, near the concrete wall, is our foyer. Closer in, although hard to discern, is the yet to be framed mudroom. I cannot wait for the mudroom.

Study area

A better view of the storage/study area under the stairs.

The foyer

CIMG3966, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

Really - it will be all connected soon!

More tall wall

CIMG3967, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

This is on the south side of the great room looking over the courtyard.

Big wall gets framed in

CIMG3968, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

The big wall is part of the great room. The wall next to it is starting to get framed. It's a 14' tall wall with two sets of french doors on either side of a fireplace.

BIG kitchen window

CIMG3970, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

This will be one, big, honkin' window. We will be planting bamboo along the fence. We, um, kind of have to do that, dontcha think?

Dining room from the kitchen

CIMG3971, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

The framed area in the back is the dining room. The area up front on the right is where my two 36" Bosch fridges will go. Mucho refrigeration.

Pantry

CIMG3972, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

There is the antechamber to the pantry and then the dry goods pantry. In the front we'll have small appliances, serveware and cleaning stuff. In the back we'll have flour, soup, beans, pasta, potatoes etc.

Stairs to the basement

CIMG3976, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

These are inside. The area to the left is for storage and studying. There is a closet behind the stairs too for games, toys, audio equipment, you name it...

LOVE this tree

DSC_0368, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

I will be putting this tree somewhere in my yard. It's a Persian Silk Tree. I'm told it's a "weed tree" but the Wikipedia entry suggests that it's not invasive in California or Oregon. It is messy but I guess that's true of a lot of varieties. I just love the flowers and the spreading form of the tree. So I'm going to think about this but still leaning toward this tree somewhere!

View to the yard from the Master

There will be a double-slider here and a door to the left. We'll be looking out this direction from bed.

Tall wall

Another view. This wall will be prominent int he front of the house and will define the entryway.

View from the east

DSC_0354, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

You can see the pool house on your left and the large board-formed concrete wall. This view is from the east side of the lot, along the back wall of the backyard fence.

Jack n' Jack Bath

DSC_0360, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

As it's shared by two boys, seems more appropriate to call it this. Window will be in the shower area.

Fireplace and great room

DSC_0357, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

The bump out is for the fireplace. The great room is behind. It will be the last to be framed.

"Interior" courtyard

DSC_0359, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

On the flip-side of the street view. There will be a lot of windows along the hallway. It's going to be quite a gallery.

Garage

I also bought my first faucets!

The Kohler Karbon. One wall-mount for over the main clean-up sink and one deck-mount for the prep sink. So, totally, totally cool. Cool beyond words...

Purchased my first appliances!

I can't resist a deal. I got some discontinued models at crazy good prices on eBay. I will be installing the 27" Gaggenau double ovens and matching warming drawer. For refrigeration I bought two 36" Bosch Integra refrigerators with the bottom freezer drawers.

It's all very exciting!

Chalklines are beautiful

DSC_0313, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

You can see the hallway down to the master bedroom. The things sticking up will connect the foundation to the framing. You can make out an outline of the house now! Exciting times!

Love my picnic table?

DSC_0314, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

You can see the boys' bathroom here. The picnic table is in one of the boy's rooms. No assignments have been made. I have almost a year of holding this over their heads. Finished the homework? No? Well then I guess you get the room closest to mine! That's motivation for you!

Garage foundation

The perimeter of the 3-car garage is set. Next week we expect the rest to be poured.

Basement exterior

Slider, window and door from the *outside* now.

Basement bedroom

DSC_0323, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

The big opening will be a slider. The small opening is a window. Both look out to the egress area. Maybe a bedroom for Primero. Or maybe a guest room. Not sure yet.

More basement

DSC_0327, originally uploaded by Clean_Freak.

Husband is in the study area. Stairwell will be on the far side, adjacent to the wall. There is a small closet framed in. The stairs will come up and to the left around the closet.

In the family room

The big scary rebar things will someday be a concrete wall. Husband is in the "family room" now.
